Graham Thompson congratulates its senior litigation partner Michael L. Barnett on his appointment as Senator and Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas effective July 7, 2008.
Senator Barnett continues the proud Graham Thompson tradition of public service that began with the firm’s founding partner, Peter D. Graham’s tenure as Minister for Labour and Housing from 1964 to 1967.
The firm’s commitment to public service continued from 1989 to 1992 with the appointment of Sean G. McWeeney as Attorney General and Member of the Bahamas Senate from 1985 to 1992, following which he returned to lead the firm’s trust and offshore department.
In May 2007, Claire L. Hepburn, former litigation partner, continued the firm’s proud tradition of public service with her appointment as Senator, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs. Following her succession by Michael L. Barnett on July 7, 2008, she will continue her contribution to The Bahamas in the public service with her appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court effective October 2008.
