Michael L. Barnett has directed the Firm's litigation team since 1983. Michael has established himself as one of the leading Bahamian litigators in the areas of banking, trusts, commercial and civil matters, employment disputes, constitutional matters, professional indemnity, estates, arbitration and personal injury.

Transactions on which he has recently worked include:

• Litigation on the issue of constructive trust fraud and Mareva relief.
• International trust litigation involving allegations of breach of trust and self dealing.
• Personal injury representation for leading Bahamian insurers.
• Liquidation of two major international computer and electronic companies.
• Representation of the Receiver of a major international bank.
• Representation of the Central Bank of The Bahamas in bank licensing litigation.

Following his education at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. and the Inns of Court, School of Law, England, Michael was called to both the English Bar (Lincoln's Inn) and the Bahamas Bar in 1978.

Michael served as an Acting Justice of the Bahamas Supreme Court during 1996. He is past President of The Bahamas Bar Association, and past Chairman of the Industrial Relations Tribunal. From 1998 to 2002 he served as the Chairman of the State-owned Bahamas Water & Sewerage Corporation. Michael is a Director of two leading banks, and served on the Bahamas Financial Services Board from 1995 to 1996.
