Claire Hepburn joined the Firm in October, 1985. Claire's experience in the Firm's litigation department includes banking and finance matters, as well as insolvency & liquidations. Claire enjoys a fine reputation among ship owners, lenders, and insurers for her comprehensive admiralty and shipping knowledge. Claire is sought after by leading insurance companies for personal injury representation and other litigation matters. She represents leading companies in contentious labour law, commercial and company law matters. Claire has represented the Governments of the USA and Switzerland in the Bahamas on extradition matters.

Transactions on which she has recently worked include:

• Representing leading shipping companies and financiers on contentious shipping matters.
• Acting for Creditors in the liquidation of a leading Argentinean bank incorporated in The Bahamas.
• Acting for Bahamian insurance companies on personal injury matters.
• Advising in labour and union disputes for major Bahamian hotels and banks.

Claire Hepburn was educated at the University of The West Indies and The University of Miami. Prior to her career in law, she was a lecturer of History at The College of The Bahamas. She served as the Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas from 1992 to 1994, and served as the Chairman of the Gaming Board of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas from 1994 to 2002. Claire lectures at the Etienne Dupuch Law School in Nassau on civil procedure.
