Robert K. Adams joined the firm as a Partner in 2000 and has headed the firm's litigation team since 2008 when he succeeded Michael L. Barnett who has been appointed the Chief Justice of The Bahamas. Robert has established himself as one of the leading Bahamian litigators with a broad range of experience in the areas of banking, trusts, insurance, commercial and civil matters, professional indemnity, estates and personal injury, contractual and labour disputes in the tourism and hospitality, banking, insurance, shipping, building, and construction industries. He has also appeared before the Privy Council.

Transactions on which he has recently worked include:

  • Advising commercial airline operators on labour and industrial relations matters.
  • Advising developers and operators of major hotels and resorts in Freeport, Grand Bahama and representing them in commercial and labour disputes.
  • Advising time share and vacation club operators in Freeport, Grand Bahama and representing them in contentious commercial and labour matters.
  • Representing leading Bahamian insurance companies and commercial banks in multi-million dollar disputes.
  • Representing a syndicate of Lloyd's Underwriters in an admiralty collision dispute.
  • Representing a leading Bahamian general contractor in multi-million dollar building and construction dispute.

Robert has served in several public service positions having held the posts of Acting Assistant Registrar General of The Bahamas in 1997, Deputy Chairman of the Licensing Authority for Freeport in 1999 and Acting Deputy Registrar of The Supreme Court during 1999 and 2001.
