Erica Paine joined the firm as a partner in 2005 and works between the Freeport and Nassau offices. Erica has many years experience in all aspects of real estate law and represents several major real estate developers of resort, marine and residential projects. She also has considerable expertise in corporate and commercial law, and represents a number of leading Bahamian banks and other financial institutions in respect of both real estate and other commercial transactions.

She represents a number of international corporate investors, and is particularly knowledgeable in the field of conducting business in the "Port Area" of Grand Bahama.

Transactions on which she has recently worked include:

  • Representing real estate developers with the purchase, development, financing and re-sale of resort and residential developers.
  • Representing real estate developers with regard to subjecting property to the condominium form of ownership.
  • Representing real estate developers with regard to time-share and other fractional ownership projects.
  • Representing major hotel developers and managers.
  • Advising major corporate investors on local requirements in conjunction with international transactions.
  • Advising on financing structures to local banks.
  • Numerous conveyancing and mortgage transactions.

Erica, between 1981 and 1996, practiced at the English Bar at Falcon Chambers, London, specializing in Real Estate and Landlord and Tenant Law. During this period she was also a contributor to Halsbury's Laws of England on Landlord and Tenant Law. Erica moved to the Bahamas from England in 1996 and is a Registered Associate under the Legal Profession Act of The Bahamas.
